In the Life of a Virtuous Woman

When life sends a flood, buy a boat!
  • May 18, 2015

Obviously I put my own personal spin the the popular quote by Vivian Green

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

….but you get the point, right?

Well, last week, the rains fell and left a mark in my neighborhood! We woke up Wednesday morning after a good night’s sleep. Overnight rain is the best sleep known to man, but the aftermath left us stranded. We were in at least 3 feet of rain water! Our poor little rain boots couldn’t stand the chance! We were able to get our goats into safety and we thanked the Good Lord for us having the extra chicken coop built to keep our chickens out of the water after the last flood, but we were stuck indoors most of the day. The children were able to get to school that day because the waters were bearable and the buses could get through. But after school, no one could get thru. The waters had risen and my husband found a way to buy a boat.
The kids were “boated” to our house! It sounds like a horrible and terrifying experience, but we enjoyed every moment in the flood waters! We floated along the neighbor and even jump on trampoline (Ultimate Water Trampoline was created).
I cannot speak for everyone, but I am grateful for my family because we make the most out of every situation even when the odds are against us. We are convinced and confident because we know that no weapon formed against us would prosper and even though our entire yard was a pool, we swam and floated and had a ball!
I’ve learned that you have a choice at survival and living. We chose live and have fun in everything!
Everyday IS a lesson learned!20150515_07213320150513_16542920150513_06412420150513_171523
Mother’s Day 24/7
  • May 8, 2015

What does greeting cards, candy, flowers and  breakfast in bed all have in common? Mother’s Day! Yes, the all too common holiday is just days away. If you’re unfamiliar with this holiday,  Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate the things moms do (and didn’t do for your sake LOL) throughout the year. If you ask me, Mother’s Day means more work for mothers! How? Well, the weekend of Mother’s Day is just like any regular weekend for me.

Friday, I spend the day washing and folding laundry and completing housework. Saturday, a yard day and preparing the night’s dinner and getting the kids clothes together for Sunday. Sunday, we have church and the struggle to keep the kids clean. After service, back home to finish yard work, feed the family and get ready for the school week. Sounds pretty depressing huh?

So, how do I make this year’s Mother’s Day eventfully and different than the rest? Honestly, I don’t know! I love doing things for my little family. I enjoy cooking and time spent with them. Mother’s Day for me is everyday! Everyday, I am given all the love and honor just  by being me… a mom! Now don’t get me wrong, QT is needed when you have a husband, 5 kids and a homestead, but enjoying my family is a blessing!

BUT……

If I had to choose my top 3 gifts for Mother’s Day, I would pick:

3. The kids to get along for a full day. I have five kids which means 5 unique personalities clashing every 32 minutes (Trust me I have them down to a science!)

2. A slice of strawberry cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake TO MYSELF! I rarely eat sweets anymore because I am trying to keep make new figure, but when I want to splurge, I would like to do so on my own! My family love to share (on their own terms)! LOL

1. A clean house! Now I keep a fairly clean home but to have it cleaned without my help and done my way would be FREAKING AWESOME!!

(I hope my husband reads this so #2 can come true ASAP! The rest can happen over time…no rush! LOL)

READY…

Support Missions!! Go Fund My Husband!!!
  • April 20, 2015

I don’t usually do this, but it is for a good reason today! My family has the mind and hands for missions both home and abroad! We love to help others with the resources we have and share our Source with others! God has been so good to us and He has given us the hands to work in any way we can! God has promised us so many things and His first thing was to get us here in Texas. If you are unfamiliar with our Transition to Texas, please check out that blog post!!

Long story short, my husband is traveling to Malawi this Summer to help build wells and restore lives that was destroyed by severe floods and storms. You can help him today by simply donating to his cause! Let’s help get Ray on the mission field!
